A woman died and went to heaven.  She was met by St. Peter at the pearly gates and St. Peter said, "Welcome to
heaven, but before we let you in, you need 1,000 points.  Tell us why you think you deserve to go to heaven and we'll
total your points."  So, the woman began, "Well, I went to church every Sunday of my entire life."  "OK,"" said Peter,
"that's one point."

The woman was a bit surprised, but realized anyone could do that.  So she said, "I taught Sunday school every year
since I was confirmed,"  "1 point," said Peter.  Now the woman was starting to get a little nervous.  Finally, she thought
of something really impressive.  She said, "Throughout my life I've given 10% of my income to the church from every
paycheck I've ever earned."  St. Peter repeated, "1 point."

Now the woman was starting to panic! As she was trying to think, she exclaimed, "at this rate, the only way I'll ever get
into heaven is by the grace of God!"  And St. Peter declared, "1,000 points!  Welcome to heaven!"

Of course, pearly gates are simply illustrative.  Nobody goes to heaven when they
die (the coming kingdom is on this earth), and there are no pearly gates.  Now,
ponder these truths:

1) Everyone is a sinner.  Romans 3:10, 3:23
2) Everyone deserves punishment.  God can't allow sin into His kingdom.  Romans 6:23
3) We cannot save ourselves; only Christ through His grace can save us.  Ephesians 2:8-9
4) Christ died to take the punishment for our sins.  Romans 5:8
5) Salvation is free for the asking, so receive Christ now. John 1:12, 3:16

We can't earn our way into the kingdom by our good works.  We must depend on what Christ did for us on the cross.
This is pure grace.  "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift
of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).

God Loved you so much that he allowed His Son to be killed in your place to cleanse you so you can receive an
inheritance into the coming kingdom, and to save you from permanent destruction.
Pray to receive Christ NOW! He will then send His Holy Spirit so you will better understand this mystery.
